“What does living and thriving with fire look like?”
- Dr. Tim Ingalsbee, Firefighters United for Safety, Ethics, & Ecology
After spending years on wildland fire lines, fighting fires with the conventional approach of reducing forest fuel loads, Tim Ingalsbee is seeking to build a different kind of relationship with fire.
Tim Ingalsbee is the co-founder and executive director of Firefighters United for Safety, Ethics, and Ecology (FUSEE). He began his career as a wildland firefighter with the Forest Service and National Park Service, and is now a certified wildland fire ecologist.
His recent work is centered around generating community support for the benefits of controlled burning by indigenous practitioners for both forest ecosystem health and protection against wildfires that threaten our homes and lives.
